A prospective study of risk factors and feto-maternal outcome of preterm labor in OG department of tertiary care centre of South Gujarat

Background: Every year globally, an estimated 15 million babies are born preterm and this number is rising over major parts of the world. Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted Department Obstetrics Gynecology, NCH, Surat from October 2019 to 2020. 120 consenting consecutive subjects fulfilling inclusion criteria were enrolled. Results: The most risk factor for labor my PPROM (premature rupture membranes). 27% diagnosed with threatened labor. 22% delivered due advanced Labor arrest tocolytic drug nifedipine attempted 30 without any complications, which successful 19 subjects. maternal complication postpartum hemorrhage. All admitted NICU, amongst them 45 developed complications. respiratory distress. rate early neonatal death 6.6%. Conclusions: Inspite advances antenatal care services, birth remains burden families. Strengthening referral systems make sure that high patients managed at tertiary centers NICU facilities will improve outcome.
